something special
Labels: TURT 06 0 commentsGen12ii 2006 came to a close this evening as the various teams gathered at Covenant Presbyterian to celebrate and remember the goodness of God throughout the project. For all present, the Thanksgiving was a great way to cap off months of hard work by the mission trippers.
One thing I would like to make a mention of here is the way worship went at Thanksgiving. The Turters, true to form, started off brightly. However things threatened to come to an abrupt stop when the power went off, plunging the auditorium in darkness and without electricity. What transpired next was truly special. Even without the instrumental music backup, the songs went on..... and the next 10-15mins or so were moments to be cherished. The worship of God was heartfelt as the congregation, led by worship leader Hansel, lifted their voices to sing praises. God WAS on the throne as the worship switched from being music-led to congregation-driven and He was the only ONE receiving the adulation of the people. This episode is a great example of how despite using only a guitar and voice, God's spirit can still move - so long as His people are focused on Him.
On a slightly lighter note..... I had to control a chuckle when I suddenly realised that yet again, God was S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G the turters with this power outage. It felt like He was playing one final joke on us all...hehe.... perhaps this was His way of reminding us yet again that He is in control in all situations and He will shape things in a way that will maximise His glory. Thank you Lord. =)
