More work ahead

Relief! STIR's Preview has come and gone, together with all the pre-Preview jitters, tension and anxiety. Surprisingly though, the preview itself wasn't a totally nerve-wrecking experience. The guys just went in and did their stuff, and the rest was history. Feedback received from the audience (more like a focus group) was generally encouraging and constructive, certainly helpful for the band as we embark on making all the necessary fine-tunes.

Personally I'm rather satisfied with the progress so far in the band. There was only so much we could do in the 2-week run-up to the Preview, but in the end we managed to pull-off a good performance. On the inter-personal level, there were valuable lessons learnt as the band learnt how to work with one another, pushing one another where it's needed and learning to extend grace where necessary. Sure there were conflicts, but I'm glad those conflict moments served only to deepen the relationship the band already has.

Looking ahead, there are only less than 3 weeks to go before STIR's first performance at NUS Arts. More work to do in terms of getting our program together, and hitting a certain level of musicianship. After all, before the rubber even hits the road, you've gotta make sure you fit the tyre to the wheel and you're all ready to go.

What next?
